【イントロダクション】
1990年代末、汎用人間型作業機械〈レイバー〉は社会のあらゆる分野へと進出した。
だが同時にレイバー犯罪も増加、警視庁はこれに対抗すべく特殊車両二課を創設。
通称、特車二課パトロールレイバー中隊「パトレイバー」の誕生である。
時は流れ、AIによる自動化が進む2030年代の日本──。
人間搭乗型の〈レイバー〉は自立型ロボットに代替が進み、時代遅れとなりつつあった。
だが時代が変わろうとも、特車二課の仕事は変わらない。
第二小隊は“AV-98Plus イングラム”とともに、知恵と勇気で新たなテクノロジー犯罪に立ち向かう。
