2. 왜 하필 '후진'만 됐음? (설계 미스)
차 앞부분(노즈)이 너무 길고 뒷부분에 무게 중심이 쏠려 있었음.
전진하면 앞바퀴가 헛도는데, 후진하면 무거운 엉덩이가 뒷바퀴를 꾹 눌러줘서 그나마 마찰력이 생김 ㅋㅋㅋ.
결국 운전병은 뒤만 보고 148km를 운전하는 생지옥을 맛봄.
3. 스펙은 좋은데 왜 망함? (겉만 번지르르)
엔진: 37톤짜리 차인데 고작 150마력 디젤 엔진 2개 씀. (요즘 쏘나타보다 힘 약함;;)
모터: 바퀴 돌리는 전기 모터가 개당 75마력... 전동 킥보드 수준은 아니지만 덩치에 비해 턱없이 부족했음.
작은 언덕 하나 못 넘어서 대원들이 내려서 삽질해야 했음.
4. 지금 어디 있음?
1940년 방치 → 1958년 눈 속에 묻힌 거 잠깐 발견됨 → 그 후 빙산이 쪼개져서 바다로 떠내려감.
지금은 남극해 차가운 바닥 어딘가에 수장된 '수백억짜리 고철'이 됨.
당시 투입 예산 15만 달러 (현재 가치 약 30~40억 원). 전쟁 직전이라 가능했던 미친 돈지랄임.
